Corn oil extraction  10/26/11 11:03:20 AM Printer Friendly VersionPrinter Friendly Version

United Ethanol produces approximately 2.8 gallons of ethanol and 18 pounds of highly valuable feed co-products called distiller’s grain from one bushel of corn.

Every kernel of corn also has a fat content of approximately 3.6 percent. At United Ethanol, we installed a corn oil extraction system to remove that fat and sell it as a nontoxic, biodegradable, and renewable corn oil for biodiesel production.

In the creation of biodiesel, fats and oils are chemically reacted with an alcohol to produce chemical compounds referred to as fatty acid methyl esters. Biodiesel is the name given to these esters when they’re created for use as fuel in diesel engines.
